For a child to be considered eligible for receiving the sacraments of first confession and holy Eucharist, we require that he or she complete a two year process. The Requirements for each year are as followings:

Eucharist 1  (Year 1) 

1) Child must be enrolled in Faith Formation classes at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

2) Child must read and complete ALL weekly chapters and workbook pages assigned in his or her Faith Formation class though out the year; books are checked three times per year. Two books issued: 1) Word of Life (grade level book) and 2) Blessed - First Reconciliation.

3) He or she MUST attend, with the family, ALL Family Prayer Nights and both Family Nights.

Eucharist 2  (Year 2)

1) Child must be enrolled in Faith Formation classes at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

2) Child must read and complete ALL weekly chapters and workbook pages assigned in his or her Faith Formation class though out the year; books are checked three times per year. Two books issued: 1) Word of Life (grade level book) and 2) Blessed - First Communion.

3) He or she MUST attend, with the family, ALL Family Prayer Nights and both Family Nights.

4) Each child will be interviewed on four basic prayers: 1) Our Father, 2) Hail Mary, 3) Glory Be, & 4) Act of Contrition.  Interviews begin toward the middle of the Faith Formation year.

5) At the conclusion of the Faith Formation year each child will be given a written test covering material from the entire year, to show he or she has enough knowledge of the sacrament and faith and is well prepared.
