CORE TEAM RETREAT, TUES. JULY 30 TO THURS. AUGUST 1
Mandatory forms for parents to fill out can be downloaded here. Signed/completed forms should be scanned and returned to Maria D’Amato at firstname.lastname@example.org. The retreat will be discussed at the July 21 meeting, where all questions can be asked and answered. Below is some key information.
WHAT: A team building retreat for the Core Team to have fun, pray together, and build trust. There will be daily Mass at nearby St. Brigid parish, outings to the beach and bay, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and other prayer, games, discussions, and possibly surfing and cooking lessons.
WHEN: Meet at the Youth Room on Tuesday, July 31 at 3pm. Pick up from the parish will be at 10am on Thursday, August 1.
WHERE: Drop off and pick up is at the parish, from where we will carpool to an AirBNB house located at 1148 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109. WE NEED TWO PARENTS WITH LARGE CARS/SUVS TO HELP TRANSPORT TEENS TO AND FROM THE HOUSE. Please e-mail Maria to volunteer for this.
COST: The parish is paying for everything (lodging, two breakfast meals, two dinners, snacks) except teens will need to have $15 to purchase their own lunch at a nearby restaurant.
WHAT TO BRING: Towel, clothes, beach wear, sun block, sun glasses, toiletries. Clothing should be modest and appropriate to the setting. Bikinis and Speedos are NOT modest beachwear. If you are going to go surfing/body boarding, you will want to wear a rash guard. Beachwear will only be worn at the beach. For the rest of the retreat, T-shirt and modest shorts/pants are appropriate. You may want to bring jeans/long sleeve shirt for the nighttime.
Teens should bring their mobile phones, but there will be times in the house when these will be put away so that the teens can be more present to each other and to God.
